Chapter 1 Non-Speaker
One by one the children went up while their parents waited with a bated breath. Inevitably, the bird expected by the family answered and each happy child was reunited with his parents. Watching them go, Adler kicked his legs against the chair restlessly. It was really boring.
At last it was his turn and with a small bounce in his step, Adler hurried up to the lady. He knew what to do and turning to the birds, he confidently said hello.
Silence met his call and the lady furrowed her brows. “Say it again Adler,” she encouraged, “but a bit louder this time.”
“Hello!” Adler repeated but still no bird answered. The lady frowned and bent down to speak to Adler.

“What does your family do?” she asked kindly.
“They do things with wood” replied Adler, “Dad makes things.”
